The ceramic bowl rests on the kitchen island. As the daughters get to work piling ingredients, measuring spoons and cups, whisks, and spoons nearby, their mother places a pot on the front burner of the stovetop.
The coffee pot gurgles slightly, its work nearly finished as the women's work is beginning.
The daughters each grab a mug from the cupboard. June grabs two mugs, one for her and one for mom.

The chocolate still slightly dripping from the caramel, she rested the piece on a wire rack to set.
After a few pieces of caramel were dipped and placed on the rack, she grabbed the first piece, the chocolate not quite set yet, and indulged.
