On a small farm high in the mountains of the Nicaraguan rainforest, specialty, Arabica coffee cherries slowly ripen to maturity, awaiting the careful eye and delicate hand of local coffee farmers, experts in their craft, who will individually select the ripest and best cherries to be spring water washed and meticulously processed, each step careful and calculated to ensure only the finest beans make it to our roasters, where here they work their magic to bring you a truly unique offering.

Our blonde espresso is specially roasted to bring out the authentic and true flavor notes found in our light roast, that classic brightness we thoroughly enjoy, but with a little something extra here, a noticeable sweetness as well as a full bodied flavor, typical of an espresso, that will keep you coming back for more.

Meet Madeline. 75 years young, a sweet, but strong woman who brightens the lives of all who are blessed to know her.

She’s lived down the street from our family for nearly 15 years. Her husband passed away long before we knew her. Her children all live states away.

She calls us her adopted family. “Oh, I still have my children, and grandchildren, and great grandchildren, but they all live so far away. You...you’re right here for me to spoil, spend some time with, and enjoy,” she always tells us.

Our children call her Ms. Madeline.

One of the sweetest, most kind ladies you’ll ever meet. She doesn’t know a stranger.

But, you can’t let her sweetness fool you. She’s seen sorrow and hardship. She’s known both trial and triumph. Her age is expressed in wisdom and grace. And, I’ve yet to see anything sway her bold resilience and strength.

Every day she laces up her sneakers and goes on a walk at 7 am sharp.

In the heat, she sheds her jacket. In the rain, you’ll be sure to see her bright purple umbrella piercing the gloomy clouds. And, in the winter months, minus any snow or ice, she still strolls down the street, wearing a parka and her usual smile.

Over the years, we’ve developed a tradition. As soon as Ms. Madeline returns home from her morning walk, she calls to let us know she’s made it home safely.

Amidst the bustle of our morning routine, getting ready for work and school or even just making breakfast on the weekends, it’s become an honored tradition in our home to answer Ms. Madeline’s daily “I’ve made it home safely” calls.

Generally the children race to answer when the telephone rings, and I know it’s Ms. Madeline on the line by the tell-tale (one-sided) conversation, as most usually you can hear the following:

“So, let me guess, the coffee’s brewing as we speak?”

“Same as usual?”

“Sweet and bold, just like you!”

Ms. Madeline is pretty partial to her favorite brew, a blonde espresso: bright and sweet, yet full bodied.

And, most everyone on our street has been invited into Ms. Madeline’s kitchen at least once for a cup.

As soon as you step across the threshold, through the front door, the powerfully beckoning aroma greets you, seemingly ushering you further into her home down the short hallway lined with years worth of memories hung delicately on the walls, around the corner, past the worn dining room table, and into the brightly painted yellow walls of the kitchen.
